How to make a training guide from a browser walkthrough
Managers and VAs rewrite the same click-path for every new hire. Follow Along records the task once in Chrome and produces an editable guide with screenshots.
What you need
- Google Chrome on desktop
- The Follow Along extension (zip install today; Chrome Web Store listing pending)
- A Pro trial or subscription to create guides on new installs ($9/mo or $79/year; 7-day trial, card required)
Steps
- Download the extension zip and Load unpacked in Chrome developer mode.
- Open the page where the task happens (CRM, booking tool, invoice form, etc.).
- Open Follow Along → Start. Complete the task deliberately. Pause if you need a break.
- Stop. Review the numbered steps and screenshots. Edit wording, reorder, or delete accidents.
- Permanently redact anything sensitive (pixels are removed from exports, not just covered).
- Export PDF or HTML and share the file with your team. Viewers do not need a paid seat.
What this is (and is not)
Follow Along is process documentation for browser-based admin tasks. It does not independently perform the task, certify that a process is correct, or replace an LMS. The current version does not record native desktop apps.
Guides stay on your device in the current version. We do not claim HIPAA or SOC 2.
